1960’s Kay True Tone Western Auto 3 Pickup Hollowbody Electric Guitar USA Speed Demon K573 Super Clean
This is quite possibly one of the absolute cleanest versions of this model that you will ever see.
Guitar was just cleaned: frets polished, fingerboard oiled and a new set of D’addario 10 gauge strings were installed. The pickup selector switch is a 4 way switch that controls 1) neck 2) middle 3) bridge 4) all 3 pickups. There are individual volume and tone controls for each pickup. The tone for the neck pickup doesn’t seem so change the sound much when adjusted but the other pickup tones appear to work as intended (see video). The pickup selector knob was missing when I got this guitar but I bought a New Old Stock replacement “lever”’ type knob that is on the guitar now (see pics).
The dot marker on the 3rd fret was missing but I had a local luthier cut me a new one (it’s a little brighter than the others). Also, the bottom plastic strap pin was broken so I’ve used a new replacement for that.
This is a pre owned, vintage guitar that has been around at least 50 years and will show some wear commensurate of age and use. I’ve got the action pretty low and the intonation set but the guitar may need some fret leveling as there are some buzzy frets but overall the guitar plays great through and amp
and I didn’t notice any buzz amplified through an amp.
Comes with a non original gig bag.
