Vintage 1979 Fender FRETLESS Bass Guitar NECK CRACKED Luthier PROJECT

This neck has serious issues.
Please read entire description before buying.
The neck and fingerboard are cracked
near the butt end of the neck.
I believe that this happened due to overtightening of the truss rod, but I can't be certain because I bought the neck this way. The fingerboard may have been planed. The rosewood veneer looks pretty thin to me. The truss rod turns, but I have no way of knowing if it works properly, and I really don't want to mess with it. This is a project for a qualified luthier. It looks like the nut is not original. It had a non-original set of tuners on it. The new tuner screw holes are inside of the originals and wood not be seen if originals were to be re-installed. Original tuner screw holes were filled. Original neck finish is in good shape.
