They can be easily removed if you do not need the additional length.

    Lionel O Gauge 022 Automatic Switches Pair.. Condition is "Used". These are complete switches with all the parts and accessories included.  Please note the switch controllers may have been extended with wire so that they could be located far from the controller but those could easily be snipped off if those wires are not desired  Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
    These Items are from retired train Collectors, and they have taken good care of these items. Look at the pictures I have attached, they ARE the best description for this item. This was one of several items bought from an estate or auction. This is a great value, most pieces from this purchase were in superior shape. The owner had taken extremely good care of them.
