    Description

    A Criswell Type 42 note - Second Series - Two Dollars () The Confederate States of America - June 2, 1862 - Serial Number 16807.
    This was the first note issued by the Confederacy.  The center of the note presents an allegorical design representing the South striking down the North.  The upper left sho
    ws a vignette of Judah P. Benjamin, who was Secretary of War and then State for the Confederacy.  Signing for Register was (Miss) C(harlotte) R. Meade and for Treasurer was (Mrs.) R(ebecca) Overton.
    This is a decent example of this type which was printed on lower quality paper.  There is a little edge wear and multiple pinholes.  There are no tears.
