    CONFEDERATE BOND RECEIPT
    Here is an
    original 1864 Civil War Confederate bond interest receipt
    . During that time, whenever someone bought a bond to support the war effort, they would receive a large bond (in this case, a 00 bond) with small interest bearing receipts attached to it. Every 6 months, a receipt would be removed from the bond and redeemed for the amount specified. These receipts measure approx. 3" x 1-1/2" and have the printed signature of Robert Tyler, the son of John Tyler, the 10th President of the United States. Printed by the Archer printing company of Richmond, Virginia.
