1998 Fender 60s Reissue Jazz Bass neck w/Tuners MIM.
Hello. Up for sale is a nice Fender 60s Reisue Jazz Bass neck MIM.
This neck is in good condition. The truss rod works and it has some normal light wear. There are a few dings or nicks behind the nut area and on the back of the neck around the 5-6 frets. Looks a lot worse in the pics.
The country of origin and serial number were removed from the back of the headstock. I call this "de-Squiering". My friend bought this neck over ten years ago on ebay and intended to build a custom bass but never got around to it. The body he was going to use was a USA '62 reissue which I am selling elsewhere.
This bass has "forward" Gotoh tuners stuck on. It original has the backwards Pre-CBS style Gotoh tuning keys with the rivet. You can also see the extra "Mexican hole" near the low E tuner on the back of the headstock.
I've seen this extra hole on MIM neck from the 90s and early 2000s era. This is to ID to neck as MIM. Another example is that the early reissue Fenders had little dots on the bridges to show that they were reissue and not original.
I have another neck with the backwards Gotoh tuning keys. I fit one to this neck that I am selling to show that it fits the screws holes perfectly. See the pics.
You can also see the extra hole to ID the neck as MIM. They do this on the bodies too on the lower horn.
For comparison I uploaded a pic of a '99 Fender MIM Jazz Bass Standard neck that was on Reverb. You can see the same extra hole by the low E tuner. On these the decal is on the front.
